Project Overview

Pengi... Undeniably, the worlds most loved iconic mountain-resort penguin. The opportunity arose from to rebrand this popular Snowsports Ambassador, requirements were diverse; from mascot to signage, merch to kids learning.

Contributions

Working as the designer for Cardrona Alpine Resort, HCD research, graphics, animation, video, print and digital were developed. Additionally, during develop stages, Designer Ben Auton was contracted to collaborate with creating illustration concepts.

Designing for the Future

Pengi has been an iconic member of the Cardrona Alpine Resort brand for over 20 years. To ensure our kids were the focus of designs, a design-thinking approach was taken to discover insights and final design deliverables.

The result was a truly immersive experience for kids visiting the resort, increasing the overall brand image and user experience at Cardrona Alpine Resort.

Going Beyond Illustrations

Research & design was additionally developed on the Fiordland crested penguin. The Fiordland crested penguin (Tawaki) ranked globally as 2nd critically endangered penguin species.

To ensure we were giving back & educating our youth, a collaboration was created between Cardrona & the NZ Tawaki Project. This lead to an increased public awareness & financial support towards the endangered penguin.
